East Coast Catalyst was founded by two industry veterans, David Polcaro and Tim Bourgeois. Each principal brings a dozen years of digital experience to every client engagement — having consulted to more than 100 companies over their careers, ranging from household brands to unknown start-ups.
David Polcaro, Creative Director / Founder
David is an award-winning creative director, digital producer, and UX expert with a diverse set of experiences to draw from when creating compelling websites, mobile apps and digital systems for clients. David’s philosophy is based on creating exciting interactive user experiences that are on-brand, intuitive, and which support business goals. David's experience includes work for Apperian, Comcast, DeWalt, Boston Globe Media, Thomson Reuters, TIBCO Spotfire, as well as everything in ECC's portfolio.
David is a founding partner at East Coast Catalyst, and leads all creative and UX initiatives for ECC clients. Prior to launching the firm, David founded Pixel Bridge, a full service interactive agency in Boston. David led the creative, UX and technical teams at Pixel Bridge for more than 10 years until the boutique agency was acquired in 2009. David is also creative director and a founding partner of Boston TechJam, a tech conference/block party to celebrate the innovation economy in and around Boston.
David is a graduate of the Boston Architectural Center. As part of his studies he also completed coursework in mechanical engineering and photography. While at the BAC, David was awarded the DeGeorgio Scholarship Award for design excellence in 1999 and the Nast Portfolio Award for portfolio distinction in 1998.
Tim Bourgeois, Digital Strategist / Founder
Tim is a digital strategist who works side-by-side with senior managers to formulate digital strategies that:
- Support corporate directives for growth and competitiveness
- Maximize digital advertising return-on-investment
- Are achievable given a company’s skills and resources
While Tim’s focus and expertise has been firmly rooted in digital strategy over the past decade, he’s established particular depth in technology, publishing, higher education (for-profit), and B2B as a result of his work with clients such as The Boston Globe, Constellation New Energy, Fortis College, the Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO), TIBCO Spotfire, and Sulzer Chemtech.
Tim has written dozens of articles, white papers, and blog posts on the subject of digital strategy and digital marketing optimization. His most recent thought leadership project is ChiefDigitalOfficer.net, a new community for digital executives whose responsibilities intersect strategy, technology and marketing. Tim's writings can also be found on ECC’s Digital Strategy Blog, Chief Executive magazine, Visibility Magazine, CRM Magazine, and The Professional Services Firm Bible (Wiley).
Prior to launching East Coast Catalyst in 2009, he was CEO of Pixel Bridge, a full-service interactive marketing and web development firm he founded in 1999 and was acquired in 2009 by AMP Agency. Previously, he was a vice president at Kennedy Information, and a senior analyst at IDC. Tim is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
